Illustrating for children is one of the most creative and rewarding forms of art. It allows for almost unlimited flights of fancy, and can even help us rediscover our own childlike creativity, imagination, and wonder.
Whether you’re interested in illustrating your own stories or considering illustration as a career path, this class will walk you through the basics of Children’s book illustration from start to finish. In this intensive 3 hour session you’ll learn about planning a dynamic series of images, pacing a visual narrative, and developing your own personal style. We’ll discuss choices of artistic media, storytelling techniques, color, design, composition, as well as vital busines information. You’ll get to experiment with different art materials and receive close guidance from a professional illustrator.
